hi, i'm sana

SPEAKER. AUTHOR. COACH

Welcome to my corner of the internet where I get real about this beautiful, messy journey of breaking cycles every single day. I'm Sana Latrease—yes, I'm a speaker and CEO of Unashamed, Inc., but at my core, I'm a former foster kid and adoptee who's figuring out this thing called life, one day at a time.

This blog is my digital journal where I share the raw, unfiltered stories of what it looks like to parent without a blueprint, to love fiercely despite the scars, and to build the kind of family I dreamed about while in foster care. From morning cuddles with my grandbabies to board meetings, from triggering moments to victories in therapy sessions—I'm sharing it all.

Here, you'll find:

  • My honest stories about mothering Jamir and Janai through the lens of someone who's still healing their inner child

  • Real talk about building a 17-year marriage with Joshua when you've never seen healthy love modeled

  • Behind-the-scenes glimpses of running Unashamed, Inc. while managing adoption and foster care triggers

  • The daily wins and struggles of being "Grandma Sana" to Syer and A'Rayla

  • Vulnerable reflections on my foster care journey and how it shows up in unexpected ways

  • The continuous journey of embracing my adoption story while honoring all parts of who I am

This isn't just another professional blog—it's my heart poured out on paper. Some days we'll laugh, some days we'll cry, but every day we'll keep it real about what it means to break cycles while still being a work in progress ourselves.

Because here's what I know: if my story as that little girl in foster care could turn into this life I'm living now, then y’all, anything is possible. So pull up a chair, grab your favorite drink, and let's walk this journey together.

With love and authenticity, Sana

P.S. Yes, we're family now. That's just how we do things around here. 💕
