As the child of a formally incarcerated parent I know first hand the affects incarceration has on their mental and
physical health and their socioeconomic status. I advocate for the children who are where I have been by first
publicly acknowledging children with incarcerated parents as resilient. I have believe that by understanding that
these children are tremendously resilient should help us to craft interventions that uplift their most positive
qualities, rather than reinforcing (in their minds and otherwise) the aspects of their lives that are in lack.
I speak to professionals and youth that are currently in or affiliated with group homes, transitional housing
facilities, schools, colleges, and churches about my own personal challenges that I endured while my mother
was incarcerated; including the effects it had on my mental health and social behavior. Additionally, I share
with them about the trauma I endured due to being molested and abused, even while being in a foster home and
in the care of the Department of Children and Families.
You're important to God, and you're important to me.
When it comes to prayer, I believe that God wants to meet your needs and reveal His promises to you.
So whatever you're concerned about and need prayer for — I want to be here for you!
